Three Weddings and a Dawat

So yeah, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything, and I do think I’m slowly falling out of my habit to post regularly. I’d want to blame it on my trip to Karachi, but it was such a short (but sweet) one (not to mention took place ages ago! Or so it seems), it really did feel as if it had flown by in the wink of an eye…

Talking about Karachi, let me tell you a little story about

Three weddings and a dawat

In one night

Yes, in one night.

As a matter of fact, if I remember correctly, there was an ‘Imam Zamin’ as well somewhere in there…

The interesting thing was, barely out of the 2 weeks I was there, was I or my hubby for that matter able to indulge in any nice home cooking. Dawat after dawat followed by shadi dinners kept us so busy; we barely had time to indulge in a basic plate of homemade malka-masoor or pizzas like my mom makes them.

Meeting family, friends and relatives at these occasions isn’t however that much of an engaging happening. You’re just a rush and swirl of fancy clothes, a glass in one hand, six inch heels and a plate in the other; just  don’t expect too much of a conversation to go on. Everybody wants to meet you, hug you, kiss you on the cheeks and then pile your plate high up. Yup, that’s how we show our love for each other.

But that’s it, isn’t it? That is who we are, how we are in gatherings. Not that it’s what I’d like to be doing every day of the year, but yes, it is definitely how I’d want my time off to be!
